I also offer group therapy for female adolescents (ages 14-18) with special emphases on mind-body awareness and the importance of social connection to fight isolation, depression, and anxiety. Mindfulness and other coping skills will be combined with creative exercises (i.e., writing, drawing) to facilitate a safe and supportive environment in which to process specific issues salient to this population (e.g., self-esteem, peer pressure, body image, emotional health, identity, relationship issues). Each week we will tackle a different topic and skills will build upon one another as the 10-week series progresses. Group therapy is often selected as a complementary service for those already in individual therapy as it has the added advantage of social support - this is very important during times of stress and transition. As well, for those adolescents who do not wish to work individually with a therapist, group therapy can be an alternative (and more economical) option for healing and support.
